I use Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and PowerPoint in order to convey information effectively, aesthetically, and simply.

My primary goal with this slideshow was to boil down a few basic legal concepts in order to convey them in an interesting manner to my class. My classmates, though all law students as well at the time, were not all well-versed in certain copyright nuances.

Combining Analysis with Passion.

2018-2019

I started this as a passion project of sorts, then it developed into a workable academic piece which I ended up presenting at the Popular Culture Association (PCA/ACA) National Conference in Washington D.C. in 2019.

I have always been interested in fandom and fandom practices. There is such a fantastic intersection of disciplines as it is its own burgeoning discipline on its own. This presentation was an exercise in finding a good balance between play and academia while remaining mindful of my audience (like-minded individuals well-versed in fandom).

Our group primarily focused on a movement within our specific university community. Working with the other members of the group we decided to work on visibility and getting our message out.

As a group, we thought about the channels of communication and rhetorical appeals of our cause. To be far-reaching, effective, empathetic, and have room to grow—it required thinking ahead about the tools we already use as students and leaders. Social media is an extremely important part of day-to-day interactions and it has become a valuable tool when creating social change.

The decision to examine Beyoncé, one of the world’s most successful popular culture icons, was not easy. As a group assignment, the main area of contention was about the narrative we sought to sell through our design and information. On the essential point of an infographic, “whether the information is online, printed, environmental, or experiential, the key is to craft the experience for the audience and look for ways in which design can cut through the clutter to the essence of an idea” (Baer 7).
